Daring his opposition to question his credentials, the 30-year-old rapper shares Ask About Me, a new mixtape created in collaboration with Detroit-based producer The ATG. Wielding his raspy voice like a weapon, Reese speaks from experience, telling street stories with raw lyricism and harrowing detail. His weathered vocal fits perfectly within the orchestral trap sound perfected by The ATG, who combines the cinematic feel of Atlanta rap with the racing pianos and rolling snares of his hometown of Detroit. The new tape features recent singles like “IDK,” in which a bewildered Reese wonders who could possibly stop him, and the speaker-knocking “What Happened,” a warning shot aimed at snitches across the globe.
